Herbal Medicine

Picture
Herbal remedies have been used for thousands years in Asian countries like conventional medicine. They are       usually put together as a formula, so different herbs could counter re-act of each others' side effects, which makes   the overall formula relatively safe to use without major side effects. It is highly recommended for the use in   conjunction with acupuncture treatments or on its own. These natural herbs are remarkable in their ability to   promote healing. They can address both acute symptoms and the underlying state of health because each formula   is customized to individual needs and your body constitution.

Although herbal  remedies are relatively having less side effects compared to conventional medicine, each herb still has its pro and cons. It is the major reason why I don't recommend people take single herbal remedies as supplements if you read somewhere that it promotes certain health benefits. It is highly recommended to consult with an herbalist who understands the side effects of each herbs and know how to combine herbs to counteract each herb's side effect and maximize their healing benefits.

Essential Oil Healing & Personalized Perfume

Picture
If your body is very sensitive and may have allergic reaction to many things, you may hesitate of having herbs.   Essential oil could be an alternative option. They can be tailored to your needs based on your body constitution and health condition. It can be used in conjunction with herbal remedies and acupuncture or on its own to promote healing.

I also customize perfume or cologne using essential oil for healing or/and balancing emotional well-being including stress relief, anti-depression, anti-anxiety, or ADD/ADHD, and others. So you could have your own personalized scent with healing benefits.

Each  essential oil could have its side effect also.  It's important to consult with a healthcare provider who is knowledgeable with the mechanism of each essential oils and be able to avoid side effects. Usually doctors of naturopathic medicine are very knowledgeable with essential oils and some herbalists. A simple example, most people know Lavender is great for relieving stress and calming effect. However, people don't usually know it actually promotes estrogen hormone. So women who have or had breast cancer or ovarian cancer, should avoid Lavender in any form.  The best practice is not to self-diagnose and self-applying things without consulting a professional. Most articles only talk about benefits, but rarely mention side effects. Thus, you need to be mindful of what you choices for your own  health.

Acupuncture cupping

Picture
Acupuncture cupping is a form of ancient healing therapy in traditional Chinese medicine. The practitioner creates suction in the cup and places the cup on the skin of the patient's back to draw fresh blood to the superficial area. This therapy can improve blood circulation, open up the chest and lungs, relieve various types of pain, and even benefit menstrual and digestive problems.
Here is an interesting CBS news video segment, "Cupping Takes the Pain Away".
