Many years ago when I still worked in the Financial industry, I struggled in which subject to choose for my graduate education between Financial Engineering, MBA or Acupuncture/Oriental Medicine. If I studied Financial Engineering or MBA, the entire education would be paid by the company that I was working for. There would be guaranteed career advancement upon my graduation. If I studied acupuncture/oriental medicine, I would end up with student loans and possible unemployment since it didn't have many job opportunities back then. My mind told me to study either Financial Engineering or MBA, but my heart was aching for the study of acupuncture and oriental medicine. I tried taking one class in each related area among those three choices.
As soon as I had the first class at the acupuncture school, introduction of oriental medicine which elucidated the philosophy behind the oriental medicine theories, I fell in love with it immediately. It totally changed my life afterwards. I learned how to live a healthier and happier life myself while sharing it with others. Although financially I may not make as much as I used to be at the financial industry, I am passionate of what I am currently doing, and I enjoy it every moment. Helping people feeling better is so rewarding. At the same time, I have learned so much from others. In the last eight years of practice, I have met many wonderful people and made many friends. Frankly speaking, the journey hasn't been all smooth. There were some challenges along the way, but they never concern me because my heart loves healing so much. It had lead me on endless studies. I never thought I was a studious person. But studying anything healing related and learning how to apply them clinically, have brought so much joy to me.
When I look back now, studying acupuncture and oriental medicine was the best decision I have ever made in my life. It was a lesson learned following my heart. My mind would follow afterward, and things would work out eventually.
